Cervical Screening

If you are female and aged between 25-74 you require a regular cervical screening test (previously know as a pap smear). The recommendation is to have this routinely done every 5years. We have two female GP’s

 

Short term contraception

Depot-Provera contraception

This is administered by an intra-muscular injection every 3 months.This is an injection of the hormone progestogen. Each injection is more than 99.5% effective.

 

The contraceptive implant

The implant (implanon NXT) slowly releases the hormone progestogen. It is more than 99% effective at preventing pregnancy and can last for up to 3 years. The implant is inserted (injected) under the skin of your inner upper arm by a trained doctor. A local anesthetic is used so that you will not feel pain when this is happening.
